T Level Industry Placements & Apprenticeships

At Lowe Electrical, we are passionate about developing the next generation of skilled electricians. Through our partnership with Leicester College & Loughborough College, we provide T Level students with the opportunity to gain valuable industry experience while working alongside experienced engineers on a wide range of electrical projects.

As part of their two-year T Level programme, students are required to complete a minimum of 45 days (315 hours) of industry placement. Our placements are designed to give students practical, hands-on experience in a professional environment, helping them develop the skills, knowledge and confidence needed for a successful career in the electrical industry.

Students who demonstrate commitment, enthusiasm and the right attitude throughout their placement may have the opportunity to progress into a full-time apprenticeship with Lowe Electrical.

How to Apply for a T Level Industry Placement

To be considered for a placement with Lowe Electrical Contractors Ltd, students should:

  • Enrol on a T Level programme with Leicester College or Loughborough College.
  • Be recommended by the college as a suitable candidate for an industry placement.
  • Once recommended by the college, Leicester College or Loughborough College will forward your CV, including your education, qualifications and personal statement, to us for consideration.
  • Attend an interview with Lowe Electrical, where you’ll have the opportunity to introduce yourself, discuss your career aspirations and learn more about our company and the work you’ll be involved in.
  • Await the outcome of the interview process.
  • If successful, begin your industry placement as agreed with the college and Lowe Electrical.

During Your Placement

Throughout your placement you will:

  • Work alongside experienced electricians and engineers on a variety of electrical projects.
  • Be supported and mentored by our senior engineers and Health & Safety Manager.
  • Receive regular progress reviews and feedback to help you develop your practical skills and industry knowledge.
  • Gain valuable experience in a professional working environment that supports your T Level learning.

Progressing to an Apprenticeship

Outstanding students may be offered the opportunity to join Lowe Electrical as an Electrical Installation Apprentice.

If you are offered an apprenticeship:

  • You will receive a formal apprenticeship offer from Lowe Electrical.
  • You will enrol on a four-year Electrical Installation Apprenticeship with Leicester College.
  • You will combine paid employment with practical workplace training and college-based learning.

On successful completion, you will achieve industry-recognised qualifications and work towards becoming a fully qualified electrician.

Training Pathways

 

First-Year T Level Students

Students who accept an apprenticeship during their first year will leave the T Level programme and begin a four-year apprenticeship with Leicester College.

Including the time already spent on the T Level course, this typically results in an overall training period of approximately five years.

Second-Year T Level Students

Students who accept an apprenticeship during their second year will leave the T Level programme and begin a four-year apprenticeship with Leicester College.

Including their T Level studies, this typically results in an overall training period of approximately six years.
